การเริ่มต้นโครงการของรีสอร์ทแห่งนี้ มาจากปัญหาเรื่องกลิ่นในห้องน้ำภายในห้องพัก และปัญหาเรื่องการกำจัดขยะ และเศษอาหาร จนกระทั่งได้ไปศึกษาดูงานกับทาง ททท. จนนำความรู้ที่ได้มาพัฒนาเป็นน้ำหมักชีวภาพ

ศิริพร จันทรสมบูรณ์ กรรมการผู้จัดการ ลีลาวลัย รีสอร์ท เปิดเผยว่า น้ำหมักชีวภาพที่ทำขึ้นนั้น ใช้เศษอาหาร ผักสด ผลไม้ ที่เหลือจากห้องอาหารและห้องครัวมาเปลี่ยนเป็นน้ำหมักชีวภาพ แต่ถ้าหากใช้ใบสาบเสือมาทำเป็นน้ำหมักชีวภาพ ก็จะช่วยไล่แมลงที่มารบกวนแปลงผักที่ปลูกไว้ในรีสอร์ทได้ด้วย

"นอกจากนี้ ก็เริ่มต้นเลี้ยงไส้เดือนดินเพื่อให้ย่อยสลายเศษอาหาร เศษผักต่างผลไม้ต่างๆ แต่ไส้เดือนไทยที่ใช้อยู่ย่อยขยะได้ช้า แต่สิ่งที่ค้นพบใหม่คือ ในบ่อที่เพาะเลี้ยงไส้เดือนดินจะมีตัวด้วงสีขาวมาอาศัยอยู่จำนวนมาก ตอนนี้กำลังศึกษาและสังเกตพฤติกรรมตัวด้วงนี้ว่าสามารถย่อยขยะ ได้ดีเทียบเท่าไส้เดือนแอฟริกันหรือไม่"

"ที่สำคัญ ทางรีสอร์ทยังได้รับความร่วมมือจากชาวบ้านในชุมชนใกล้เคียงดีมาก ที่ช่วยส่งเศษผัก เศษใบไม้ต่างๆ เพื่อมาใช้ทำน้ำหมักชีวภาพ โดยสิ่งที่เราแบ่งปันคืนกลับไปให้เขาก็คือ น้ำหมักชีวภาพ และปุ๋ยจากโครงการ เพื่อให้เขานำกลับไปใช้ในการทำเกษตรกรรมอย่างปลอดภัย"
